Saturn is in Aries from February 14, 2026 to April 12, 2028, after a first short visit from May 25 to August 31, 2025. Astrologers read these years as a time for learning to act on your own account: to start things without waiting for permission, and to stay with them once the first rush is over. People born with Saturn in Aries, in 1967 to 1969 and from 1996 to early 1999, have their Saturn return in this time.

Saturn in Aries: the dates

The dates are given in Universal Time and can shift by one day depending on where you live. Retrograde means that a planet appears to move backward, seen from Earth. Saturn does this for some months every year.

Saturn takes about 29.5 years to circle the Sun and spends about two and a half years in each sign. So it comes back to Aries only once in a generation. The last two visits were in 1967 to 1969 and in 1996 to 1999.

During 2027 Saturn covers the stretch from 8° to 28° Aries. In the retrograde months of that year it moves from 28° back to 21°.

Neptune is in Aries in the same years, for good from January 26, 2026. In February 2026 the two planets stand together at the very start of the sign, at 0° to 1° Aries. In 2027 they are several degrees apart, with Saturn ahead.

What Saturn in Aries means in astrology

In astrology, Saturn stands for structure, limits, responsibility and the lessons that take time. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, a fire sign ruled by Mars. Astrologers link it with initiative, courage and independence.

Put together, the planet of patience stands in the sign of the first step. Aries likes to begin. Saturn asks what happens after the beginning. Astrologers read the combination as a time for a grown-up kind of courage:

  • Starting on your own account. Not waiting until someone gives permission or goes first.
  • Carrying what you start. A decision is read as yours, with its consequences.
  • Staying past the first rush. Routine, practice and small steps count more than the big opening move.

Saturn is also read as slowing things down. In Aries that can feel like impatience: you want to go, and it takes longer than you hoped. Astrologers treat that friction as part of the theme, not as a sign that something is wrong.

Aries knows how to begin. Saturn asks whether you are still there on the hundredth day.

None of this is a forecast. Astrology describes the theme of a time. What you do with it is yours.

Who has a Saturn return while Saturn is in Aries

A Saturn return is the time when Saturn comes back to the position it had at your birth. Everyone born with Saturn in Aries has one while Saturn is in Aries again. That means people born:

  • between March 4, 1967 and April 29, 1969: the second return, at about age 58 to 60
  • between April 7, 1996 and June 8, 1998: the first return, at about age 29
  • between October 26, 1998 and February 28, 1999: the first return

In 1998 Saturn changed signs twice, so only a calculated chart shows the sign of your Saturn for certain. If your birth Saturn stands between 8° and 28° Aries, Saturn crosses that exact position in 2027. Because of the retrograde motion, Saturn often crosses the exact birth position three times within about nine months. What a Saturn return is and how to work with it

Who else notices Saturn in Aries

When a moving planet meets a point of your birth chart, astrologers call it a transit. They look first at the planets Saturn passes directly over, then at those it meets at a tense angle.

  • Planets in Aries: Saturn passes right over them.
  • Planets in Libra: Saturn stands opposite them, 180 degrees away.
  • Planets in Cancer and Capricorn: Saturn stands at a right angle to them, 90 degrees away.

Such a contact is read as a time when the theme of that planet asks for a clear decision and steady work. With the Sun it is about direction, with the Moon about what you need, with Venus about relationships and values. How transits work

Where Aries is in your chart

For everyone, the first question is which house Aries covers. Houses are the twelve sections of a birth chart that stand for areas of life. They begin at your Rising sign, the sign on the eastern horizon at your birth, also called the Ascendant, so you need your birth time. How to find your Rising sign

What to do with Saturn in Aries

  1. Find your Rising sign and read your line in the table. That is the area of life where Saturn is read as asking for structure.
  2. Check whether you have planets in Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, and at which degrees.
  3. Choose one thing in that area to begin, small enough to keep up for two years.
