2027 SKY DATES

2027 astrology calendar: the sky of 2027 at a glance

In 2027 the sky brings five eclipses, three Mercury retrograde periods and one Mars retrograde, from January 10 to April 1. Venus is not retrograde at all. Jupiter moves from Leo into Virgo on July 26, while Saturn and Neptune stay in Aries, Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius all year. This calendar lists all of these dates in one table. Astrologers read these dates as themes for reflection, not as predictions of events.

Leo

Jupiter is already retrograde in Leo as the year begins (until April 13)

With Mars retrograde in the same months, many astrologers read the first quarter of 2027 as a slower, more thoughtful start.

Month by month

January

The year opens with Mars in Virgo and with Jupiter and Uranus already retrograde. On January 10 Mars turns retrograde at 10° Virgo. Many astrologers read these first weeks as a slower, more thoughtful start: a time to review where your effort goes.

February

The fullest month of the calendar. An annular solar eclipse falls on February 6 at 17° Aquarius, Mercury turns retrograde on February 9, a penumbral lunar eclipse follows on February 20 at 1° Virgo, and Mars moves back into Leo on February 21.

March

Mercury turns direct on March 3 at 20° Aquarius, which ends the first of its three retrograde periods. Mars and Jupiter are still retrograde in Leo. Astrologers read retrograde periods as times to review and slow down. March has no eclipse.

April

Mars turns direct on April 1 at 20° Leo, after a little over eleven weeks. Jupiter follows on April 13 at 16° Leo. Both appear to move forward again, and the slower first quarter that many astrologers describe comes to a close.

May

Pluto turns retrograde on May 8 in Aquarius, as the slow planets do for several months every year. On May 14 Mars enters Virgo again, the sign astrologers link with work, craft and getting the details right. May has no eclipse.

How we calculate

Every position on this page is calculated astronomically, with the same calculation AstroScroll uses for its readings. Signs and degrees refer to the tropical zodiac, and degrees show the completed whole degree. The time standard is Universal Time. The lunar node is the mean node. The readings in the last column are a symbolic tradition for self-reflection, not predictions and not a scientific finding.

Questions and answers

What are the most important astrology dates in 2027?

Three stand out: the total solar eclipse on August 2 at 9° Leo, Jupiter's move from Leo into Virgo on July 26, and the Mars retrograde from January 10 to April 1. Add four more eclipses, on February 6, February 20, July 18 and August 17, and three Mercury retrograde periods. Saturn and Neptune stay in Aries all year.

Is 2027 a good year?

Astrology does not sort years into good and bad. It describes themes, not outcomes. The sky of 2027 is the same for everyone, and a calendar like this one cannot say how your year will go. Astrologers use the dates as prompts for reflection: what to review, what to begin, and what has become clear.

When is Mercury retrograde in 2027?

Three times: from February 9 to March 3, from June 10 to July 4, and from October 7 to October 28. Each period lasts about three weeks. Mercury does not really move backward. It only appears to, seen from Earth. Astrologers read these weeks as a time to review, re-check and slow down. Nothing has to wait.

Are Venus or Mars retrograde in 2027?

Venus is not retrograde in 2027. It is retrograde only about every 18 months. Mars is retrograde from January 10 to April 1, moving from 10° Virgo back to 20° Leo, which happens only about every two years. Astrologers read a Mars retrograde as a time to pace yourself, not as a ban on starting things.

When are the eclipses in 2027, and can the total solar eclipse be seen from the United States?

The solar eclipses fall on February 6 (annular) and August 2 (total). The three lunar eclipses, all penumbral, fall on February 20, July 18 and August 17. The path of the total eclipse of August 2 crosses southern Spain, North Africa and Egypt. It is not visible as a total eclipse from the United States.

What does the sky of 2027 mean for my zodiac sign?

A horoscope by zodiac sign looks only at your Sun sign, which about one person in twelve shares. What 2027 suggests for you depends on where the moving sky touches your whole birth chart: which house a planet moves through, and which of your own planets it meets. That depends on your Rising sign, and so on your birth time.
